Gosh my heart is aching this morning as I read the news about the largest mass shooting in U.S. history. I am in constant prayer for Las Vegas. As I am crying out to God in question and despair, one quote from the Messiah keeps whispering in my ear:
““I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.””- (John 16:33 NIV)
It might not look like ‘good’ is winning in this world, but if God said it then it’s true. Looking at my kids and husband today, I see that God’s miracles are still present and He is still at work even when people make horrible decisions and evil takes place on a mass scale. Don’t be afraid and don’t lose heart. If the evil seems to increase, the Lord’s army and His righteousness is increasing even more.
I wrote a new song a few weeks ago called “Lord of Heaven’s Armies” and I didn’t really see what the purpose was until this morning. We are God’s army. Everywhere we go, He goes. He’s alive in us. We bring His kingdom forward. Yes, there will be a day when Jesus returns and defeats the enemy for good..but in the mean time, we have the authority and power to bring healing light and love to this broken world-to bring His kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is Heaven, to bind up all wickedness and loose PEACE & salvation.
Even when it doesn’t look like it with our human eyes, we are surrounded by a host of Heavenly Armies fighting on our behalf. Take heart! Elohim Tzevaot, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, is here!
“When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”- (2 Kings 6:15-17 NIV)
“We are surrounded
Look around
Breathe in the presence
Here the shofar sound
Chariots of fire
The Lord of armies is here
Look around
The Lord of heaven’s armies is here
Awake and rise up
All Sinners and saints
The battle has been won
Jesus has triumphed the grave
Darkness you must flee
And bow down at His feet
Our God’s still on the throne
And we’re His army
Chariots of fire
The Lord of armies is here
Look around
The Lord of heavens armies is here”
